Autism Day

HEAVENS VERY SPECIAL CHILD
A meeting was held, quite far from Earth!
It's time again, for another birth.
Said the Angels, to the Lord above,
This special child will need much love.
His progress may be very slow,
Accomplishments he may not show.
And he'll require extra care
From the folks he meets down there.
He may not run or laugh or play,
His thoughts may seem, quite far away,
In many ways he won't adapt,
And he'll be known as handicapped.
So let's be careful where he's sent,
We want his life to be content.
Please Lord, find the parents who
Will do a special job for you.
They will not realize right away
The leading role they're asked to play,
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.
And soon they'll know the privilege given
In caring for their gift from Heaven.
Their precious charge, so meek and mild,
Is HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD.

Autism” is a pervasive developmental disorder in the children, with severe behavioral manifestations and communication disorders. It is characterized by deficits in social, communication and motor behaviors. Speech and language abnormalities in autism show a lot of individualistic variation.

The occurrence of autism is at a rate of approximately 1 in 500 people. At India’s current population, this means there are an estimated 1.7 million autistic persons in the country, assuming that there are no significant variations in this rate worldwide.

WAT DOES THEY NEED FROM US????

Though they don't understand our words , which sounds Greek and Latin..... They want us to talk to them. Though they grow slow... sloww..... and slowwww....... they want to to wait till they growwww..... Though they are to be sympathized ,,, they don't need that any more..... let our empathy strengthen them. Blessed are those who think of those kids as a person who loves, and hurts, and feels joy and pain just like we do, for in that respect that they are normal......

And now into a family life..! he he eh e he he hello...!! stop wondering.. i meant my carrier, yes.... i have finished my 4 years of studies , which i loved a lot. Occupational therapy..!! wanna know more about my hubby????? here it is........!!!!!

Occupational Therapy, often abbreviated as "OT", incorporates meaningful and purposeful occupation to enable people with limitations or impairments to participate in everyday life. We work with individuals, families, groups and populations to facilitate health and well-being through engagement or re-engagement in occupation. We are becoming increasingly involved in addressing the impact of social and environmental factors that contribute to exclusion and occupational deprivation. The World Federation of Occupational Therapists defines occupational therapy as a profession concerned with promoting health and well-being through occupation. Our primary goal is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. We achieve this outcome by enhancing the individual's ability to participate, by modifying the environment, or by adapting the activity to better support participation. Another way of thinking about the ideas contained in these definitions could be: occupational therapy is about understanding the importance of an activity to an individual, being able to analyze the physical, mental and social components of the activity and then adapting the activity, the environment and/or the person to enable them to resume the activity. Our therapy therapy gives people the "skills for the job of living" necessary for "living life to its fullest

An Occupational Therapist works systematically through a sequence of actions known as the occupational therapy process

  • Referral
  • Information gathering
  • Initial assessment
  • Needs identification/problem formation
  • Goal setting
  • Action planning
  • Action
  • Ongoing assessment and revision of action
  • Outcome and outcome measurement
  • End of intervention or discharge
  • Review

Areas of practice in occupational therapy

There are many areas of practice in occupational therapy which have often been divided into Physical Health and Mental Health. The division is not so clear as occupational therapists consider the physical, mental and social well-being of all clients in every setting. These divisions occur when the setting is defined by the population it serves for example acute physical or mental health settings (e.g.: hospitals), sub-acute settings (e.g.: aged care facilities), outpatient clinics and community settings.

Physical health

  • Pediatrics - Schools, Community, inpatient hospital based child OT
  • Acute care hospitals
  • Inpatient rehabilitation (e.g., Spinal Cord Injuries)
  • Rehabilitation centers (e.g., TBI, Stroke (CVA), Spinal Cord Injuries, Head Injuries)
  • Skilled nursing facilities
  • Home Health
  • Outpatient clinics (e.g., Hand Therapy, orthopaedics)
  • Specialist assessment centres (e.g., Electronic assistive technology, Posture and Mobility services)
  • Hospitals

Mental health

  • Mental health inpatient units
    • Adolescent, adult and older people's acute mental health wards
    • Adult and older people's rehabilitation wards
    • Prisons/secure units (Forensic psychiatry)
    • Psychiatric intensive care unit
    • Specialist units for Eating Disorders, Learning disabilities
  • Community based mental health teams
    • Child and adolescent mental health teams
    • Adult and older people's community mental health teams
    • Rehabilitation and recovery and Assertive Outreach community teams
    • Primary care services in GP practices
    • Home treatment teams
    • early psychosis teams
    • Specialist learning disability, eating disorder community services
    • Day services
    • Vocational Services

Vocational Rehabilitation

Community

Community based practice involves working with people in their own environment rather than in a hospital setting. It can also involve working with atypical populations such as the homeless or at-risk populations. Examples of community-based practice settings:

  • Health promotion and lifestyle change
  • Intermediate care services
  • Day centres
  • Schools
  • Child development centres
  • People's own homes, carrying out therapy and providing equipment and adaptations
  • Workplaces
  • Homeless Shelters
  • Educational Settings
  • Refugee Camps

As all were awaiting for my arrival ,it was my mom who took her in her arm and kissed me into my palm. But , still that kiss was in complete...... Then came my dad, who hugged me tight and gave me some warmth, but still, that hug and warmth were incomplete...... All my relatives were around me.. my eye balls went a round...to find the one who were born for me an year so long... For twenty long years on bed of nails u made me wait.... there are days were i was all alone, and wonder how u know, what i felt when i was left alone....I think ur some one from up above.... but u and me never had a word of love... I was left broken in days of despair, i wanna breath but can fine u in my air..Been living in dream and fantasy with out u, for these many years.... But now all u need to know is that, ur girl is feeling all alone with out u. Though ur far apart ur always in my heart...

Its time for u to come and hold me in ur arm...
